Mark Hansen relates to teen’s struggles in adolescence because he himself struggled through tough events in his own life. As a child, Mark was hit by a car while riding his bike. This put him in a coma for the next eight days, paralyzed him on the left side of his body and caused seizures for the next nine years. Mark had to learn how to walk and talk again. His mother was told by a psychologist that he would never be college material. He was also told by a doctor that he would never be able to drive a car. Mark was on medication for nine years and was always teased by his peers. Mark now is not only a successful businessman in real estate, but he is a former elected official who served two terms on the Palm Beach County School Board, the 11th largest school district in the country. He has also authored two previous books, An Ark for Learning and Success 101 for Teens: 7 Traits for a Winning Life. Mark is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University with a degree in communications
Mark Hansen has an extensive entrepreneurial background with his first speech given back in 1991 to a group of middle school students. Since then, he has given over 1,500 seminars, and appeared on radio and television programs. In addition, Mark has been a real estate professional for the last 19 years and ranks consistently in the top 3 percent nationally with
Coldwell Banker Real Estate.
Mark has received numerous awards which include the Nido Qubein Scholarship Award from the National Speakers Association and the Dorothy Finkelhor Award from the Florida Speakers Association. He was inducted into the National Society for Collegiate Scholars at Florida Atlantic University, and Mark won the Excellence in Education award from Northwood University. In 2012, he received the Martin Luther King Leadership Award from Palm Beach State College.
Mark is an enthusiastic crusader of what’s possible and is driven to make the world a better place. Mark’s accomplishments are an example to teens of what you can accomplish even when others tell you that you can’t. Mark lives in Parkland, FL with his wife Jane and their daughter.
